Marble Polishing and Sealing on Kitchen Counters San Francisco, Bay Area
This lovely home had beautiful natural stone kitchen counters but they were badly damaged from years of use. The only way to remove the deep etching in the counters is the marble polishing process. Stone Improvement was hired for this task and sealing the counters as well. We first masked off everything in the kitchen area to prevent damage from slurry. Our wet polishing process uses a small amount of water which prevents any dust but creates a stone slurry instead. This slurry is controlled with the masking and vacuumed up after every grit level. It took multiple grit levels to get to the client’s desired sheen for the stone. After the marble polishing process is complete, we then break down all of the masking and clean up. Floor fans are used to help expedite drying of the natural stone before sealant application. Our solvent based penetrating sealant was used to help protect the stone and prevent etching and staining. We also left the client a complementary bottle of our pH neutral stone cleaner. This cleaner is great for everyday cleaning and will never harm the stone or break down the sealant.
