Slate Tile Cleaning and Sealant Application San Francisco, Bay Area
This San Francisco home has a beautifully remodeled master bathroom with marble and slate tile throughout. Unfortunately the slate tile in the shower stall was starting to deteriorate from not being sealed properly. Where the stone’s sealant had broken down, the slate was corroding and starting to break apart. Stone Improvement was hired to clean the entire bathroom including the slate floors, marble vanity and slate shower stall. The tile and grout cleaning process started with us scrubbing down the areas with our natural stone cleaners and grout brushes. We then went over the areas with our hard surface extractor. This removes the stubborn mineral build up and soap scum. The areas are then dried and the sealant is applied. We used a solvent based enhancing sealant for the slate to help bring back the color from years of damage. The whole tile cleaning and sealant application only took one day and the areas are ready for use by the next afternoon.
