Marble Polishing Service San Francisco, Bay Area

Stone Improvement was hired to remove etch marks and surface stains on this marble countertop in San Francisco. The marble polishing service using diamond embedded pads is the only way to remove etch marks and bring back an even sheen to the surface. The Marble polishing process will also remove light scratches. If the scratch is too deep the marble polishing process might not remove the scratch all the way. There are 4 different grit levels with the marble polishing process. For deep etch marks and scratches we have to start with the first grit level. This is the most aggressive grit level which will hone the surface and remove the etch marks and light scratches. Once the etch marks are removed we have to clean up all the slurry from that grit level. The marble polishing process is a wet process so it does not create any dust in the house. It does however create a slurry so we have to mask off everything in the kitchen area. After the second grit level the marble will start to pick up a little bit of sheen but not much. The third step in the marble polishing process will leave the marble with a satin sheen and after the fourth step the marble will be shiny. On this project we stopped after the third step, let the marble dry, and sealed it with a penetrating sealer to help prevent etching and staining in the future. The sealer will last 3-5 years with the proper maintenance. I always leave the customer with a ph neutral cleaner concentrate for the maintenance.
