This was a brand new onyx marble kitchen countertop in San Francisco that we sealed with a solvent based penetrating sealer. Kitchen counters get exposed to all sorts of things that could potentially stain or etch them so it is a good idea to apply a sealant. The sealant will give you extra time to wipe up a spill before it damages the marble. After the marble sealing process, we buffed the countertop with a polishing pad to remove any sealant haze on the marble. Sealing the marble will give you around 2-4 years of protection depending on the wear and tare. It is still a good idea to use coasters and hot pads to help protect the marble as well.
